Mini-Mites

In mid-November James laced on his skates for only the third time and has been taking to the ice as part of Edgcumbe Hockey Association's mini-mites league.

His experience thus far has been great and he's loving it now that he's managed to find his balance and can push his way across the ice quickly with the assistance of a chair.  It's been amazing to see how much he's learned in just a month or so.  From not being able to barely stand on his two feet and needing to be pulled across the ice with his stick to pushing a friend on a chair he's made some great progress.

The coaches have been great in working with him and letting him not get too frustrated and he's been pretty excited to get out there every week - most recently he's been working on skating without the assistance of a chair and actually using his stick to find his balance and shoot the puck.

The program has been a great introduction to just getting him used to being on the ice and learning the basics.  He typically skates just once a week which has been enough to keep him engaged but not tire of it.

Henry has been getting a kick out of watching big brother James play as well and would love to join him next year ... we'll have to see about that!
