Vocabulary

At 18-months James has a growing vocabulary and it's crazy to hear him say somethings, whether in context or out of the blue.  We thought we'd attempt to capture in a list some of his growing language so we can look back and laugh at the things he used to say things.
  • Wa-wa (water)
  • Bubble
  • Car
  • Tru-ka (truck)
  • Uppy (up)
  • Book
  • Hun-gee (hungry)
  • Pah-ta (pasta)
  • Coo-kah (cookie)
  • Choo Choo (train)
  • Bus
  • Tune (music)
  • Hi
  • Buh bye (bye bye)
  • Pease (please)
  • N-ow (imagine exhaling through your nose and then saying "no" - that's snow)
  • Oh no! (specifically in relation to the Packers Superbowl win - sorry Liza and Aimee :) )
  • Tut-down (touchdown)
  • Me-owww (his word when he sees a picture of a cat)
  • Elmo!
  • Puppa (puppy/dog)
  • Pupul (purple)
  • Milk (he's a pro at signing this one)
  • Mo (more!)
  • Moo (his word when he sees a picture of a cow)
  • B-air (bear)
  • Owies
  • Have a nice day! (hab a nipe day!)
James is also learning the names of his classmates at school and can say many of their names fairly well on recognition.

Mom and Dada (or Pappa as he likes to call him) continue of course... and his favorite word as of late, No! :)

I'm sure this list will continue to grow at rapid speed.  It's fun that he is starting to communicate to us with words.  It's true that kids say the darndest things ... and I'm sure we'll find ourselves saying the darndest things as well as we continue to watch James grow and explore his world!

Swimming in the Pool

This winter swimming lessons have been a welcome respite from the cold - given we've had several cold snaps walking into a humid pool room and a heated pool is like a vacation!

James has really enjoyed lessons again and it's crazy to see how much he remembers from his last session last summer.  He still isn't a fan of floating on his back but he loves spinning around and floating on his belly.

Last weekend he blew bubbles in the water for the first time.  I think he was pretty excited about it - as were we!

A Visit to the Children's Museum

James spent part of last weekend having fun at the Children's Museum with Elliot and Greta!

From climbing around in Habitot (climbing up hills and keeping balance going down) and playing at the water tables (with water and bubbles) the kids had a blast.  James tried on a fireman's uniform, took his turn grocery shopping, played in a rock band and even drove a bus!  It was wonderful to head to environment where James could explore at his leisure.  I think we as parents had just as much fun seeing his reaction to things as he did playing.  Though he can't comment on that just yet.  :)

Daddy and James are excited to return to the Museum soon as next month as there is a Lego Castle exhibit opening.

We ended the evening with a dinner at Brasa and the boys enjoyed their grilled cheese sandwiches while us adults had some great southern food.  Yum!
