James' Big Race!

The Twin Cities Marathon organization puts on a Kids Marathon Run at the U of MN indoor track each winter and when we made note of it this fall we discovered they opened it up to kids James' age this year.  Kids in preschool/Pre-K had a time slot devoted for them to run a few laps at the track so we registered James (and Mom as he needed to run w/ an adult) to run on a frigid February morning.

Henry came out to watch and cheered James on with Papa.  James was so excited he was getting a little agitated that he had to wait for the event to start - we got their a little early and he didn't understand why he couldn't just run!

He ran with a race number, ran two laps (a quarter mile!) around the track, was awarded a medal at the finish line and got some fun trinkets (a hat, gloves and a jump rope) for his efforts!

He had a great time and I'm guessing he'll want to do it again next year.  Perhaps Henry will take his turn around the track next year too!

Sesame Street Take 2

Momma and James had a special date day planned - just the two of them - and it included taking the train downtown and going to Sesame Street Live.

We took James last year right before Henry was born and he loved it - and seeing as the theme this year again had to do with music - "Elmo, Can't Stop Singing" - we knew it'd be something he'd enjoy again.

We started the morning with a frigid walk and wait at the train stop - never been so happy to see the light rail train approaching and of course James was all smiles!

We got downtown and walked a short block to Target Center and finally warmed up.  After getting some popcorn and something to drink we were all set to see the show!

James manged to eat his weight in popcorn and enjoyed the show and seeing all of his monster friends.  It was a fun Mom and son date and he still is talking about it and asking when we can go again!
