Earlier in the week leading up to Easter Mom and James decorated eggs. Somehow Mom ended up with more dye on her hands than James did, but we had fun with a kit that made the eggs look swirled/tie-dyed. James kept repeating, "I can't have eggs Momma, I e-er-gic." Now that he is aware of his egg allergy he's quite vocal about it, but Mom assured him that decorating them would be okay and he obliged and we had success in making some beautiful eggs!
The Saturday before Easter Mom and the boys trekked to a park in Minneapolis for an Easter egg hunt. James enjoyed playing on the playground equipment for a bit before it started to rain. And then once we got inside and warmed up - he wanted to play some more, unfortunately the playground location was also where the staff were hiding the eggs so we had to stay put. Eventually we made it back outside and he found some eggs and placed them in his basket.
Dad was in Florida for part of the weekend for the NCAA hockey tournament, but arrived home in time to celebrate with Easter lunch and the Bragg family. Since Mom was flying solo most of the weekend the boys and her all spent Saturday night at the Kamrath's to make getting to church on Sunday morning a little easier. James and Henry both woke on Sunday morning to search out their Easter baskets at Grandma and Grandpa's house. James dug into his Easter Peeps and was excited to help Henry find his basket too. With delight he showed Henry how his toy worked and still gets excited to play the "Bunny" at home every once in a while.
We headed to church with the Kamrath's and James and Henry both lasted through the service without any meltdowns - so mission one accomplished for the day! Off to Grandma and Grandpa Bragg's for lunch with a quick pit stop at home to pick up Papa!
Henry got a chance to visit with Great Grandma Betty and Grandma and Grandpa Bragg for the afternoon before he decided to take a snooze. James also enjoyed an afternoon nap in the big bed (after lunch of course) - it still take some getting used to to see him sleeping in a regular sized bed these days!
Following his nap James got up and explored Grandma and Grandpa's backyard for another Easter egg hunt! This time James "got it" quite quickly and was happy to taste some of his findings too!
Another attempt to get an official family photo was somewhat successful ... guess this is truly our life these days :)
It was a wonderful busy weekend capped by a beautiful evening of sunshine and some time spent outside. Couldn't have asked for anything more - we are blessed indeed!
